Antonio Conte to become the new AC Milan coach

Antonio Conte is set to become the new coach of AC Milan. The Italian has accepted a three-year contract from the Rossoneri.

The Stefano Pioli cycle is over after a very disappointing season where the Rossoneri were left completely out of the Serie A race and failed in the Champions League. A new cycle will start next season with Antonio Conte on the guide of AC Milan.

Journalist Luca Momblano reports that Antonio Conte has agreed a three-year contract to become the new AC Milan coach. The Italian former midfielder rejected the proposal of Napoli and foreign clubs, and also refused to join the race for Barcelona and Liverpool, in order to immediately start the planning of the Rossoneri’s squad for next season.

Talks with Antonio Conte were handled entirely by Zlatan Ibrahimovic who serves as senior advisor to Gerry Cardinale and RedBird. Ever since Ibrahimovic returned to AC Milan he opened talks with Conte offering him the AC Milan job and making him understand he was his only choice for the job. After a series of phone calls and direct meetings, Conte has agreed to join the Rossoneri and will start his role officially after the end of the season.

Antonio Conte has won every possible trophy in Italy. He opened a winning cycle with Juventus with three consecutive Scudetto titles and did the same at Inter by making them Italian champions after more than a decade. AC Milan offers Antonio Conte a unique opportunity to become the first coach in history to win the Serie A title with Juventus, Inter and AC Milan. A feat no coach has achieved until now. He also won the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea.

Antonio Conte has traditionally favored the 3-5-2 game system and it will be interested to see if the same formation will be applied at Milan. Although he used the 3-4-3 at Chelsea.
